Captain Roger B Binyon

Roger Basil Binyon was the son of Major Basil and Gladys Binyon, of Hayes, Kent and husband of Dorothy Perkins Binyon. He was commissioned into the Inns of Court Regiment, Royal Armoured Corps and volunteered for airborne forces.

Captain Binyon successfully completed his parachute training at RAF Ringway on course number 12 on 20 April to 1 May 1942 and was posted to 3 Platoon, 9 (Airborne) Field Company, Royal Engineers and took part in Operation Market Garden, Arnhem.

Capt Binyon was killed in action on 24 September 1944, aged 30. He was reported missing in the Sonnenberg area after attacking a German tank and has no known grave.
