Lance Corporal Robert V Cochrane

12 Aug 1944

Robert Victor Cochrane was the son of Robert and Rachel Cochrane, of Glasgow, he enlisted in the 14/20th King’s Hussars, Royal Armored Corps and volunteered for Airborne forces.

Lance Corporal Cochrane successfully completed glider training and was posted to 6th Airborne Division Workshop, Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers, and took part in Operation Overlord (Normandy).

L/Cpl Cochrane was killed in action on 12 August 1944, aged 25, and was buried at Ranville War Cemetery, Calvados, France.
