Gunner Robert McCracken

Robert McCracken was the husband of Ann McCracken, of Oban, Argyllshire. He enlisted in the Royal Artillery and volunteered for Airborne forces.

Gunner McCracken successfully completed glider training and was posted to 2 Airlanding Anti-Tank Battery, Royal Artillery, and took part in Operation Market Garden (Arnhem).

Gnr McCracken was killed in action on 20 September 1944, aged 34. He has no known grave and is commemorated on the Groesbeek Memorial to the missing.
