Private Robert Low

Robert Low was the son of Alexander and Margaret Low, of Glasgow and the husband of Mary Low. He enlisted into the Highland Light Infantry and volunteered for airborne forces.

Private Low successfully completed his glider training and was posted to C Company, 7th (Airborne) Battalion, King’s Own Scottish Borderers and took part in Operation Market Garden (Arnhem).

Pte Low was killed in action on 23 September 1944, aged 33, and was given a field burial in a mass grave of 14 near the junction of Oranjeweg and Bothaweg, Oosterbeek and was re-interred to Arnhem Oosterbeek War Cemetery on 28 August 1945.
