Rifleman Robert J Stevenson

Robert James Stevenson was the son of Mr and Mrs Andrew Stevenson, of Carnmoney, County Antrim, Northern Ireland, he enlisted in the Royal Ulster Rifles and volunteered for airborne forces.

Rifleman Stevenson successfully completed parachute training at RAF Ringway and also glider training and was posted to 1st (Airborne) Battalion, Royal Ulster Rifles, and took part in Operation Overlord (D day landings).

Rfn Stevenson was killed in action on 7 June 1944, aged 23, and is commemorated on the Bayeux Memorial to the missing.
