Robert Charles Bryans was the son of Robert and Annie Maud (Proctor) Bryans, of Armagh, Northern Ireland, he enlisted in the Royal Ulster Rifles and volunteered for airborne forces.
Rifleman Bryans successfully completed glider training and was posted to 1st (Airborne) Battalion, Royal Ulster Rifles, and took part in operation Varsity (Rhine Crossing).
Rfn Bryans was killed in action on 24 March 1945, aged 27, and was given a field burial at Ringenburg and was re-interred to Reichswald Forest War Cemetery on 8 April 1947.
