Richard Stanley Bellerby was the son of George Stanley and Irene Ann (Bailey) Bellerby, of York. He was granted a commission in the Royal Artillery.
Captain Bellerby was attached to 3rd Parachute Brigade, Army Air Corps and took part in Operation Overlord (D Day landings).
Capt Bellerby was killed in action on 6 June 1944, aged 25, and is commemorated on the Bayeux Memorial to the missing.
