Company Sergeant Major Richard G Flexen

Richard George Flexen was the son of Edwin John and Mary Ann Flexen; husband of Winifred Hilda Flexen, he enlisted in the Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire Light Infantry and volunteered for Airborne forces.

Warrant Officer Class 2 (Company Sergeant Major) Flexen successfully completed glider training and was posted to 2nd (Airborne) Battalion, Oxford and Bucks Light Infantry and took part in Operation Overlord (Normandy).

CSM Flexen was killed in action on 16 June 1944, aged 39, and was given a field burial in Breville and was re-interred to Ranville War Cemetery, Calvados, France, on 2 July 1945.
