Sergeant Reginald J Wortley

Reginald Josiah Wortley was the son of Edwin John and Elizabeth Rebecca Wortley, of Shepshed, Leicestershire, he enlisted in the Leicestershire Regiment and volunteered for airborne forces.

Sergeant Wortley successfully completed parachute training and was posted to 1st Special Air Service Regiment, Army Air Corps and took part in Operation Overlord (D day landings).

Sgt Wortley was killed in action on 18 June 1944, aged 24, and is commemorated on the Bayeux Memorial to the missing.
