Rifleman Reginald H Stanley

29 Apr 1921 - 24 Mar 1945

Reginald Henry Stanley was the son of Vincent Reginald and Violet Mary (Gardner) Stanley, of Oxfordshire, he enlisted in the Royal Army Service Corps and volunteered for airborne forces.

Rifleman Stanley successfully completed glider training and was posted to 1st (Airborne) Battalion, Royal Ulster Rifles and took part in Operation Varsity (Rhine Crossing).

Rfn Stanley was killed in action on 24 March 1945, age 23, and was given a field burial at Hamminkeln, Germany, and was re-interred to Reichswald Forest War Cemetery, Germany on 23 April 1947.
