Lance Corporal Reginald G Wykes

Reginald George Wykes was the son of Edward George and Rhoda Wykes, of Brimpton, Berkshire, he enlisted in the Worcestershire Regiment and volunteered for airborne forces.

Lance Corporal Wykes successfully completed glider training and was posted to 2nd (Airborne) Bn. Oxford and Bucks Light Infantry and took part in Operation Varsity (Rhine Crossing).

L/Cpl Wykes was killed in action on 24 March 1945, aged 28, and was given a field burial at Hamminkeln, Germany, and was re-interred to Reichswald Forest War Cemetery, Germany on 18 April 1947.
