Private Raymond A Hempstead

Private Raymond Arthur Hempstead, son of Edward George and Ethel Dorothy Hempstead, of Bexleyheath, Kent, served with 11th Parachute Battalion. He took part in the Battle of Arnhem, during Op Market Garden.

Private Hempstead died on 22 September 1944, aged 24 years old. He is now commemorated on the Memorial at Groesbeek Canadian War Cemetery, near Nijmegen.
