Rifleman Philip Walsh

Philip Walsh was born in Eire and lived in Belfast, he enlisted in The Queen’s Royal Regiment, and volunteered for airborne forces.

Rifleman Walsh successfully completed glider training and was posted to 1st (Airborne) Battalion, Royal Ulster Rifles and took part in Operation Varsity (Rhine Crossing).

Rfn Walsh was killed in action on 24 March 1945, aged 24, and was given a field burial at Hamminkeln, Germany, and was re-interred to Reichswald Forest War Cemetery, Germany on 23 April 1947.
