Lance Corporal Peter MacFarlane

Peter MacFarlane was the son of Donald and Jeannie Macfarlane, of East Lothian,. He enlisted into the King’s Own Scottish Borderers and volunteered for airborne forces.

Lance Corporal MacFarlane successfully completed his glider training and was posted to HQ Transport, 7th (Airborne) Battalion, KOSB and took part in Operation Market Garden (Arnhem).

L/Cpl MacFarlane was killed in action on 18 September 1944, aged 29, and was given a field burial in a wood beside the Renkumse, Beek brook, Oosterbeek and was re-interred to Arnhem Oosterbeek War Cemetery on 22 September 1945.
