Captain Peter Chard

Captain Peter Chard, son of Richard Harmer and Mary Annie Rachel Chard, of Ashford, Kent, served with 1st Airlanding Light Regiment, Royal Artillery. He took part in the Battle of Arnhem, during Op Market Garden. He was awarded a posthumous Mention in Despatches for his actions during the Battle.

He died of wounds on 9 October 1944, aged 24 years old. He is now buried at Oosterbeek War Cemetery, Arnhem.
