After Jack was killed at Bure his good friend and RSM Robert 'Bob' Duxberry of 13 parachute reg made good on a promise that he had made to my Grandfather. He came back to Preston and ended up marrying my grandmother Beatrice, Jacks widow. My father went to the Royal Duke of Yorks Royal Military school at the age of 10. My father then went on to become a PTI and instructor at Fullwood barracks.
