Patrick Robson Dobbin was the son of Dr. John Robson and Emily Watson (Bowen) Dobbin; husband of Georgina Jane Harman (Cock) Dobbin, of Honiton, Devon. He was commissioned in the Devonshire Regiment, and volunteered for airborne forces.
Major Dobbin successfully completed glider training and was posted to 12th (Airborne) Battalion, Devonshire Regiment and took part in Operation Varsity (Rhine Crossing).
Mjr Dobbin was killed in action on 2 April 1945, aged 33, and was given a field burial at Lengerich, Germany and was re-interred to Reichswald Forest War Cemetery on 28 April 1947.
