Sapper Norman Butterworth

Sapper Norman Butterworth was the son of William and Catherine Butterworth, of Oldham, Lancashire, and husband of Alice Butterworth, of Werneth, Oldham. He served with B Troop, 1st Parachute Squadron, Royal Engineers and took part in the Battle of Arnhem, during Op Market Garden.

Sapper Butterworth died of wounds on 27 February 1945, aged 27 years old. He is now buried at Oosterbeek War Cemetery, Arnhem.
