Private Nigel B Hoyle

Private Nigel Beverley Hoyle enlisted into the Parachute Regiment in 1965. He undertook P Company with 293 Platoon.

During Advanced Brecon training he got into difficulties on a river crossing. Platoon instructor L/Cpl Sid Bright dived as Pte Hoyle disappeared under the water but could not save him. Pte Hoyle’s body was later recovered further downstream. He died on Thursday 15 July 1965 aged 21 years.

Pte Hoyle was buried with full military honours at Cardiff Cemetery.
