Lieutenant Murray W Christie

Murray Whitmore Christie was the son of Hugh Whitmore and Nellie Christie; husband of Phyll Juanita Christie, of Gwithian Towans, Cornwall. He was granted a commission and volunteered for Airborne forces.

Lieutenant Christie successfully completed parachute training and was posted to 9th (Essex) Battalion, The Parachute Regiment, and took part in Operation Overlord (Normandy).

Lt Christie was killed in action on 12 June 1944, aged 24, and was given a field burial at Breville, and was re-interred to Ranville War Cemetery, Calvados, France, on 2 July 1945.
