Lieutenant-Colonel Mike Shervington OBE

Lieutenant Colonel Mike Shervington was commissioned into The Parachute Regiment in 1995.

He has served in 2 PARA and 3 PARA, including operational tours of Northern Ireland, Iraq and Afghanistan.

Lt Col Shervington served on attachment with the 3rd Battalion of the Royal Australian Regiment (3 RAR) in 1997, and 2nd Brigade of the US Army’s 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) from 2002-04 including a year’s deployment to Iraq.

Staff appointments have included ADC, Army Resources and Plans, and at the Army’s COIN Centre, which involved time in Uganda and Somalia. He attended the Joint Services Command and Staff College in 2005/6.

On 22 September 2012, Lt Col Shervington assumed command of 3 PARA from Lt Col James Coates on the Drop Zone at Ginkel Heath, Arnhem, sixty-eight years after Operation Market Garden.

Lt Col Shervington is married to Elizabeth, an Australian who he met while with 3 RAR, and they have a daughter, Eleanor.
