Acting Sergeant Mick Hempstead

I served in 4 Coy, 10 PARA, from 1978 until 1983 when I emigrated to Australia. After getting married in Melbourne early in 1984, one of the first things I did was to enlist with the Army Reserve (Australian equivalent to the TA).

I joined 2 CDO Coy based in Melbourne, where I spent a couple of years. They are a very good unit, like a hybrid between Para/Commando and SAS, although for me it was never the same as being in 10 PARA.
