Rifleman Michael J O'Shea

Michael James O’Shea was born in Eire and lived in SW London, he enlisted in the Royal Ulster Rifles and volunteered for airborne forces.

Rifleman O’Shea successfully completed glider training and was posted to 1st (Airborne) Battalion, Royal Ulster Rifles, and took part in Operation Varsity (Rhine Crossing).

Rfn O’Shea was killed in action on 24 March 1945, age 34, and was given a field burial at Hamminkeln, Germany and was re-interred to Reichswald Forest War Cemetery, Germany, on 22 April 1947.
