Max Rams was born and lived in East London. He enlisted in the Royal Artillery and volunteered for Airborne forces.
Sergeant Rams successfully completed glider training and was posted to D Troop, 1 Airlanding Anti-Tank Regiment, Royal Artillery, and took part in Operation Market Garden (Arnhem).
Sgt Rams was killed in action on 18 September 1944, aged 28, and is commemorated on the Groesbeek Memorial to the missing.
