Mark Eisler joined IJLB in January 1979 and passed out in December 1979 when he then joined Depot Para in January 1980.

Passed out to 3 Para in September 1980. Mark was parachute jump trained at Brize Norton Course 869 in July 1980.  He was a member of B Coy during the Falklands War. Mark was with 3 Para until 1987 when he returned to Depot as a Cpl Instructor. He re-joined 3 Para in August 1990 for the remainder of their residential tour in Hollywood Barracks.

He was posted to ITC Wales in May 1994 as a CSgt Instructor on Junior Tac Wing until August 1996. He then re-joined 3 Para as a CQMS and was promoted to WO2 in April 1997. First posted as CSM HQ Coy and then a year later to C Coy as CSM.

In April 1999 C Coy 3 Para was attached to 1 Para for operation Agricola. On his return to 3 Para he was selected as RQMS (M) and remained in this post until April 2002, when he was then selected as RSM of 3 Para.

He has served in every Coy in Battalion at various ranks, but served the majority of his career with Machine Gun Platoon (Pte - Sgt). Has served in Northern Ireland tours throughout his career, Falklands Islands (1982), Kosovo (1999), Iraq (2003) and Afghanistan (2006). He served in Belize (1984) and (1999) and also served with 3 Para on a UN tour of Cyprus (1986).
