Rifleman Lumsden Donaldson

Lumsden Donaldson was the son of William Wilson and Annabella Hay Donaldson, of Pollockshaws, Glasgow. He enlisted in the General Service Corps, and volunteered for airborne forces.

Rifleman Donaldson successfully completed glider training and was posted to 1st (Airborne) Battalion, Royal Ulster Rifles, and took part in Operation Varsity (Rhine Crossing).

Rfn Donaldson was killed in action on 2 April 1945, aged 28, and was given a field burial at Wissingen, Germany and was re-interred to Reichswald Forest War Cemetery on 17 May 1947.
