Bombardier Leslie R Cook

Leslie Ronald Cook was the son of Thomas and Florence Cook, of Essex. He enlisted in the Royal Artillery and volunteered for Airborne forces.

Bombardier Cook successfully completed glider training and was posted to P Troop, 1 Airlanding Anti-Tank Battery, Royal Artillery, and took part in Operation Market Garden (Arnhem).

Bdr Cook was killed in action on 20 September 1944, aged 21, probably in Oosterbeek, and is commemorated on the Groesbeek Memorial to the missing.
