Sergeant Leslie Leyshon

Leslie Leyshon was the son of William and Edith Leyshon, of Rudgeway, Gloucestershire. He enlisted into the Royal Norfolk Regiment and volunteered for airborne forces.

Serjeant Leyshon successfully completed his Glider Pilot training and was posted to E Squadron, 2nd Wing, The Glider Pilot Regiment and took part in Operation Market Garden (Arnhem).

Sgt Leyshon was killed in action on 20 September 1944, aged 24, and was given a field burial by the Reverend Daniel McGowan near the Bilderberg sportsground, Oosterbeek and was re-interred to Arnhem Oosterbeek War Cemetery on 24 August 1945.
