Corporal Leslie H Waite

Leslie Hardy Waite was the son of Arthur and May Waite and the husband of Christabel Waite, of Wells, Somerset.

He enlisted in the Wiltshire Regiment and volunteered for airborne forces. Corporal Waite successfully completed his parachute training and was posted to 10th Battalion, The Parachute Regiment. He took part in Operation Market Garden (Arnhem).

Cpl Waite was killed in action on 23 September 1944, aged 29, and was given a field burial in a garden alongside De La Reyweg, Oosterbeek, and was reinterred to Arnhem Oosterbeek War Cemetery on 13 August 1945.
