Trooper Leslie G Freebury

Leslie George Freebury was the son of George and Amy Freebury; husband of Kathleen Alice Emily Freebury, of Beckenham, Kent, he enlisted in the General Service Corps and volunteered for airborne forces.

Trooper Freebury successfully completed parachute training at RAF Ringway and was posted to 6th (Airborne) Armoured Reconnaissance Regiment, Royal Armoured Corps and took part in Operation Varsity (Rhine Crossing).

Tpr Freebury was killed in action on 24 March 1945, aged 21, and was given a field burial near Haldern, Germany, and was re-interred to Reichswald Forest War Cemetery on 26 March 1947.
