Sergeant Lawrence Jenkinson

Lawrence Jenkinson, husband of J. Jenkinson, of Stoke on Trent, enlisted into the Loyal Regiment, and then volunteered for the airborne forces.

Sergeant Jenkinson attended parachute course 3 at RAF Ringway from 5 to 13 December 1941. He was then posted to Mortar Platoon, 1st Battalion, the Parachute Regiment and took part in Operation Torch in North Africa.

Sgt Jenkinson was Killed in Action on 3 December 1943, age 30. He is commemorated on the Medjez-El-Bab memorial.
