Corporal Lawrence Cowin

Corporal Lawrence Cowin was the son of James Fredrick and Agnes Cowin, of Newbiggin-on-Lune, Westmorland, and husband of Margaret Annie Cowin, also of Newbiggin-on-Lune.

He served with Signals Platoon, of HQ Company, 1st Battalion, Border Regiment (Airborne) and took part in the Battle of Arnhem, during Op Market Garden.

Corporal Cowin died on 25 September 1944, aged 26 years old. He is now buried at Oosterbeek War Cemetery, Arnhem.
