Private Laurence James Barton, son of James C and Mary K Barton, of Wandsworth, London, served with 2nd (Airborne) Battalion, Oxford and Bucks Light Infantry. He was subsequently attached to HQ 1st Airborne Division, Defence Platoon and took part in the Battle of Arnhem, during Op Market Garden.
He died on 24 September 1944, aged 21 years old. He is now buried at Oosterbeek War Cemetery, Arnhem.
