Lars Schmidt Pedersen was born on 16 January 1925 to Peder Pedersen and Frederikke Schmidt.

He enlisted in Copenhagen on 9 November 1945 and undertook six weeks of primary training.

Lance Corporal Pedersen attended Parachute Training Course B198 at Upper Heyford in 1946.

He served with 2nd Forward Observer Unit and 334th Forward Observer Battery in Palestine. An assessment of his military conduct reported that he was ‘A cheerful and thoroughly reliable person who knows his job. Has technical and mathematical ability. Has carried out his work in the Battery efficiently during the one year he has been in posted strength.'

Lance Corporal Pedersen was discharged on 9 June1948.

Lars Schmidt Pedersen went back to Denmark and later became Head Master at Glumsoe School.

He was married and had three sons.

He died in November 2011.
