Staff Sergeant Kenneth S Hodges

Kenneth Stanley Hodges was the son of Aaron and Alice Hodges, of Westbury-on-Trym, Bristol. He enlisted in the Gloucestershire Regiment and volunteered for Airborne forces.

Staff/Sergeant Hodges successfully completed parachute training at RAF Ringway on course number 1/3 Advanced whilst a member of 3 Bn, The Parachute Regiment. He then transferred and completed glider pilot training and was posted to B Squadron, 20 Flight, The Glider Pilot Regiment. Following this S/Sgt Hodges took part in Operation Market Garden (Arnhem).

S/Sgt Hodges died, age 24, on 11 March 1945 of an illness whilst on his way from Stalag IXB to a POW hospital, and was first buried in the POW cemetery at Bad Soden. He was re-interred to Durnbach War Cemetery on 26 September 1947.
