Private Kenneth G Walker

Kenneth Gordon Walker was the son of Harry and Alice L Walker, of Stockwell, London, he enlisted in the General Service Corps and volunteered for airborne forces.

Private Walker successfully completed parachute training at RAF Ringway on course number 97, from 3 to 15 January 1943. His course report stated “Diligent, intelligent, nervous, but jumps well”. He was posted to 12th (10th Battalion, The Green Howards [Yorkshire Regiment]) Battalion, the Parachute Regiment, and took part in Operation Overlord (Normandy).

Pte Walker was killed in action on 16 June 1944, aged 19, and was buried in Ranville War Cemetery, Calvados, France.
