Signalman John W Constable

John William Constable was the son of William and Ethel (West) Constable, of Pitsmoor, Sheffield, he enlisted in the General Service Corps, and volunteered for airborne forces.

Signalman Constable successfully completed parachute training at RAF Ringway on course number 112 and was posted to 6th Airborne Divisional Signals, Royal Corps of Signals and took part in Operation Varsity (Rhine Crossing).

Sgmn Constable was killed in action on 2 April 1945, aged 20, and was given a field burial at Lengerich and was re-interred to Reichswald Forest War Cemetery on 28 April 1947.
