Signalman John W C James

John William Charles James was the son of Jack and Agnes Maud James, of Sydenham, London, he enlisted into the Royal West Kent Regiment and volunteered for airborne forces.

Signalman James successfully completed parachute training at RAF Ringway and was posted to J Section, 6th Airborne Divisional Signals, Royal Corps of Signals, and took part in Operation Overlord (Normandy).

Sgmn James was killed in action on 16 June 1944, aged 20, and was given a field burial at Le Mesnil and was re-interred to Ranville War Cemetery, Calvados, France, on 31 July 1945.
