Colonel John Power QVRM TD

John Power served in 10 PARA 1967-1987, was commissioned in 1970 and served in 15 PARA 1979-1980. During this time he was Officer Commanding (OC) of various Rifle, HQ & Support Coys.

Further appointments included: Tech Int (DIS); Higher Command and Staff Course; Royal College of Defence Studies; Directorate General of Development and Doctrine; Allied Forces Central Europe (ACE) Rapid Reaction Corps (Implementation Force Bosnia); Col HQ London District;  Sierra Leone (Op Silkman); & NATO Defence College (Flag Offrs).

He retired on medical grounds in 2005 after breaking his pelvis parachuting - claiming to be oldest man in the Regt still military jumping.

John Power holds various NATO/UK Operational and Service Awards including the QVRM, TD and two clasps, VRSM and one clasp. 

In the day job, he spent 20 years in industry (running Rolls Royce & Hawker Siddeley companies) followed by 20 years in Govt Service (various MOD Director posts, UK & abroad), then on various NHS Boards, inter alia. His professional qualifications include: BA(Hons) BSc(Hons) LLB(Hons) CDipAF MBA FRAeS FIET FIMMM FCMI.

Subsequently, he is Hon Treasurer/Trustee/Director of the Parachute Regiment & Airborne Forces Charity, Chairman of RFCA Greater London Finance Board, President PRA Croydon, British Vice President of the Franco British Merville Museum GIP and Trustee/Treasurer of various other charities.
