Sergeant John McKnight

Sergeant John McKnight was the son of Andrew Findlay McKnight and Agnes McKnight, of Kirkconnel, Dumfriesshire, one of nine children. He served as the Platoon Sergeant of Assault Platoon, Support Company, 1st Parachute Battalion and took part in the Battle of Arnhem, during Op Market Garden.

Sergeant McKnight died on 20 September 1944, aged 33 years old. He is now buried at Oosterbeek War Cemetery, Arnhem.
