John J Lawson ‘B’ Company, 3rd Parachute Battalion. 1st Parachute Brigade. ‘Y’ Division. 5th Corps. Military Medal citation

"For most conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty on 26 Feb 43 at RAGOUBET EL ARAN, BOU ARADA (Tunisian Sheet 41, 7097). This NCO was assisting a party of RE’s mine-laying, when the enemy attacked. Leading two of his men and some sappers, he, under heavy fire, immediately attacked an enemy MG post, personally killing the crew. During the action he was wounded, but carried on till the situation was restored. His example was an inspiration to all."
