Bombardier John A Hill

John Alfred Hill was the son of Caleb Felix Elisha and Elizabeth Edith (Knight) Hill; husband of Marjorie (Benyon) Hill, of Walsall, Staffordshire. Married July 1938, Walsall, Staffordshire. He enlisted in the South Staffordshire Regiment and volunteered for Airborne Forces.

Bombardier Hill successfully completed glider training and was posted to 4 Airlanding Anti-Tank Battery, Royal Artillery, and took part in Operation Overlord (D Day landings).

Bdr Hill was killed in action on 6 June 1944, aged 33, and is commemorated on the Bayeux Memorial to the missing.
