Private John A Hibbard

29 Jan 1920 - 19 Jun 1944

John Arthur Hibbard was the son of George Alfred and Margaret (Richardson) Hibbard, of Leyton, Essex. He enlisted in the Royal Berkshire Regiment and volunteered for Airborne Forces.

Private Hibbard successfully completed glider training and was posted to 2nd (Airborne) Battalion, Oxford and Bucks Light Infantry and took part in Operation Overlord (D Day landings).

Pte Hibbard was killed in action on 19 June 1944, aged 24, and is commemorated on the Bayeux Memorial to the missing.
