Lt John Dutton Monk and was commissioned into The RA on 25 February 1943. He later volunteered for the airborne forces and served with No. 3 section, 6th (Airborne) Divisional Provost Company, Corps of Military Police. He was jump trained in Italy on Course 20. Archive records suggest he was awarded an MiD.
He was killed in action on 24 March 1945 on Operation Varsity. John was laid to rest in The Reichswald Cemetery Grave 41 E7.
