Rifleman John Blythe

John Blythe was born in Ayrshire and lived in Belfast. He enlisted in the Royal Ulster Rifles and volunteered for airborne forces.

Rifleman Blythe successfully completed his glider training and was posted to 1st (Airborne) Battalion, Royal Ulster Rifles and took part in Operation Overlord (Normandy).

Rfmn Blythe was killed in action on 10 July 1944, and was buried in Ranville War Cemetery, Calvados, France.
