Gunner John Bissett

Gunner John 'Jock' Bissett enlisted in the Royal Artillery on 10 June 1958 at Dumfries in Scotland.

In 1960 he transferred to airborne forces and attended parachute training course 503, which ran at RAF Abingdon from February to April 1960.

He subsequently served with  33rd Parachute Light Regiment Royal Artillery, and its successor unit (7 PARA RHA) until April 1968.

My father died on 4 May, 2012. His ashes were buried in the family plot in Maybole, Ayrshire. His funeral was attended by several members of the Parachute Regimental Asocciation, I am sure this is what he would have wanted as he was always very proud of the time he served in the Airborne Forces. Nice to see they never forgot him. Sadly missed.
