Staff Sergeant Jasper B Spowart

Staff Sergeant Jasper Blake Spowart, son of David and Sarah Spowart, of Blackhall Colliery, Co Durham, served with 1st Wing, Glider Pilot Regiment, having originally enlisted in the Royal Artillery. He took part in the glider insertion to the Rhine Crossing, during Op Varsity.

Staff Sergeant Spowart was killed in action on the first day, 24 March 1943, aged 25 years old. He is now buried at Venray War Cemetery, Limburg.
