Jason Whitworth joined 12 Platoon Junior Parachute Company at Alexandra Barracks Pirbright on 26 January 1988 at 16 years old. In the summer on that year at the age of 17 went on finish training with 542 Platoon at Depot Parachute Regiment & Airborne Forces at Browning Barracks Aldershot successfully passing out on on 14 April 1989 and joining B Company 2 PARA. 

Jason Whitworth stayed in 2 PARA until June 1997 deploying on Op Banner Northern Ireland Co Fermanagh 1990, East Belfast 1992, Palace Barracks (residential tour) 1993 - 1995, South Armagh 1996 - 1997. Taking part in overseas exercises in Italy, Canada, France, Germany, Holland, Kenya, Botswana and USA. Completing in NI All Arms Search Team, ILRRPS Medics, Section Commanders Battle Course, Machine Gun, Anti-Tanks and Signals Cadre. 

In June 1997 to December 1999 he was posted to PARA Company Infantry Training Centre Catterick as a Corporal Instructor completing Platoon Sergeant Battle Course before returning to 2PARA.

Between Jan 2000 to June 2003 serve in D Company 2 PARA deploying on operations in Sierra Leone May 2000, East Tyrone Northern Ireland Dec 2000 - Feb 2001, Macedonia Aug 2001, Kabul Afghanistan 2002, South Armagh Northern Ireland Sep 2002 to Apr 2003. Taking part in overseas exercises in Bruni and Belize and successfully completing Jungle Warfare Instructors Course.

In July 2003 to June 2005 was posted to PARA Company Infantry Training Centre Catterick as a Platoon Sergeant Instructor. 

Between June 2005 to Sep 2008 joined B Company 1 PARA deploying on operations in Iraq Nov 2005 - May 2006, Cyprus Jul 2006 and Iraq Jan - Feb 2007. In 2008 after a short period at PARA Company Infantry Training Centre as the Training Colour Sergeant and completing CBRN Defence Instructors Course and Urban Operations Advisors Course joined 4 PARA.

Jason Whitworth served as a Sergeant Major PSI in C Company 4 PARA at St Helens until his run out date on 25 June 2011. Then from Regular to Reserve and became the Training Warrant Officer Reserve based at Battalion HQ in Pudsey.

In 2019 after 8 years with 4 PARA went on E post to Yorkshire Officer Training Regiment and is still serving as a Army Reserve. Currently as 2ic of C (York) Company YOTR.

Jason, in addition to the medals shown in the profile he was also awarded The Queen's Platinum Jubilee and King's Coronation Medal.
