Driver James Wells

James Wells was the son of James Riley and Elizabeth Rosina Wells; husband of Enid May Wells (Bumford), married January 1944, he enlisted in the Royal Army Service Corps and volunteered for airborne forces.

Driver Wells successfully completed glider training and was posted to 398 (Airborne) Composite Company, Royal Army Service Corps, and took part in Operation Overlord (Normandy).

Dvr Wells was killed in action on 13 June 1944, aged 22, and was given a field burial at Colleville-sur-Orne and was re-interred to Ranville War Cemetery, Calvados, France, on 17 May 1945.
