Signalman James A Mackenzie

James Anderson Mackenzie was the son of James and Margaret Mackenzie, of Glasgow, Scotland, he enlisted in the General Service Corps and volunteered for airborne forces.

Signalman Mackenzie successfully completed parachute training at RAF Ringway on course number 132 from 4 to 14 October 1944. His course report stated “Hard worker, good performance”. He was posted to the 6th Airborne Divisional Signals, Royal Corps of Signals, and took part in Operation Varsity (Rhine Crossing).

Sgmn Mackenzie was killed in action on 24 March 1945, aged 19. He was buried in Reichswald Forest War Cemetery, Germany.
